Native American Art Joy & Tradition!
Senora Lynch, an artist of many talents, instructed a series of three classes at the Youngsville Public Library from June 28 - 30. These classes were open free to all Franklin County citizens to learn about Native American history and culture, as well as to learn how to make cornhusk dolls, dreamcatchers and pottery by hand. Seventy adults and children participated in this program and thanks to Senora sharing her knowledge and skills, there was much learning, a lot of crafting and a great deal of fun! Art has Sprung!
The Franklin County Arts Council greeted spring with a variety of FCAC-sponsored events, including our featured event, Spring into Arts, which was held on May 1st! Spring into Arts was an art exhibit, in which 12 artists throughout Franklin County had the opportunity to display their masterfully-crafted art work. The type of art ranged pottery to string art, and included other types such as paintings, collages, quilts, wood turnings, jewelry, and photography. Franklin County's 2009 Artist-of-the-Year, Freddy Greene, and his band the Freddy Greene (Street Genie) Trio provided great music as well. Check out the gallery to see pictures from this event!
