The purpose of the Arts Council is to encourage, sponsor, develop, promote, and
increase the public appreciation of the visual, literary, and performing arts.
In March we are celebrating "Women's History Month"
by a "Women in Art" competition
Women artisans in Franklin county, Wake Forest and Zebulon areas are invited
to submit one to two entries for a juried competition on March 28 to April 25, 2008.
The Art Exhibit will be on display in the Louisburg Town Hall, 110 West Nash St.
What Does The Arts Council Do For The Citizens of Franklin County?
Research Projects -research of indigenous musical talent in the
county.
Grant Proposals - the securing of funds from government and private
foundations.
County Promotions - Providing arts listings for the state arts
agencies and for the Department of Commerce.
Literary Events - Contests, poetry readings and publications.
Singing Convention - Gathering county-wide church and school choirs
for concerts.
School Concerts - Providing concert artists to the Franklin County
School System.
Arts Exhibitions - In public school programs, County Library, College
Arts Gallery, other public places.
Heritage Arts - Exhibition of heritage arts to emphasize county
history.
Folk Festival - Co-sponsors with Louisburg College for amateur
and professionals.
Craft Shows - Downtown Louisburg and elsewhere in the county.
Art Collections - Paintings, photographs, and musical albums.
International Whistlers Convention - An international presentation
of the art of whistling with an International Whistlers Museum and School for Whistling.
Artists and Musicians-in-Residence - Professional performers and
teachers in the public school system.
Photography Shows - County's first with awards and collections.
